Elaine Newton reviews The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. Light refreshments will be served. This program will also be available via Zoom.

About the Book:
The Correspondent is Virginia Evans' debut fiction novel, told entirely through letters and emails. It follows Sybil Van Antwerp, a 73-year-old retired lawyer who writes thousands of letters to family, friends and authors. An unexpected letter from her past forces her to confront old grief and self-reflection

Filled with knowledge that only comes from a life fully lived, The Correspondent is a gem of a novel about the power of finding solace in literature and connection with people we might never meet in person. It is about the hubris of youth and the wisdom of old age, and the mistakes and acts of kindness that occur during a lifetime.
