Neta Elkayam is renowned worldwide as one of the foremost performers of North African Sephardic music. With her husband and collaborator Amit Hai Cohen she creates music and art inspired by North African Jewish traditions, connecting their spirit and roots to disparate musical styles and contemporary global arts sensibilities. Residing between Jerusalem, Morocco, and currently as Bamah Visiting Artists-in-residence at Xavier and Tulane Universities in New Orleans, this creative couple have developed a new cohort of American collaborators with whom they infuse their unique musical style with a blend of Andalusian, Amazigh, Jewish-Moroccan Chaabi, and Arabic influences, seamlessly woven together with jazz. This powerful fusion bridges cultures and generations, creating an unforgettable sound that honors the past while envisioning the future.
