Initial Reflections Upon Arrival

As we left the airport, I asked our driver if there was any news from Gaza. He answered that he hadn't listened to the news. I was shocked since most Israelis lisen to the news hourly especially during times of crisis. He explained that the news never changes. Nobody knows anything.

The frustration that news crews have expressed regarding lack of access to the war zone is not felt by most Israelis the driver added. He claimed that it is better for us to know anything so Hamas cannot pick up troop movements or battle plans from the news media or cell phone conversations. I happen to agree.

Tomorrow we head down south to Sderot to where we will deliver gifts for soldiers and visit with kids in the shelters plus much more.

I will report further tomorrow.

B'shalom,

Jeff Springer
