Shabbat Shalom: We Stand (and Eat) Together

To unite our community during this time, we are asking Canadian Jews to open their homes and host Israelis for Shabbat dinners. 

Friday night is a time when Jews around the world come together to welcome Shabbat into their homes. However, this peaceful tradition has been disrupted: since October 7th, our Israeli brothers and sisters have been under attack.

As Jews, we are all affected—but Israelis are on the frontlines, both in our homeland and in Canada, and many who live here are unable to return to their loved ones.

We invite community members in the GTA to sign up either as a host (responsible for providing all food, drink, and décor) or as an individual/family looking to be hosted. All attendees will be matched based on levels of kashrut and religious observance, and a follow-up email will connect hosts and guests.

The dinners will be ongoing until Friday, December 15 (inclusive), with the first Shabbat dinner on Friday, November 10. Please sign up by 5:00 pm on the Tuesday prior to Shabbat. Fill out the form below to register.
