UJA's Annual Campaign

Led by the efforts of UJA 2022 Annual Campaign Chairs Angela Feldman and Richard Diamond, and the Chair of UJA Women's Philanthropy, Sara Gottlieb, along with our committed and passionate volunteers, United Jewish Appeal’s Annual Campaign aims to strengthen Jewish life and assist Jews in need in Toronto, Israel, and around the world.

A gift to United Jewish Appeal's Annual Campaign provides unrestricted funds to meet urgent, ongoing humanitarian and social service needs of Jews locally and globally, to strengthen our community’s relationship with Israel, to grow Jewish education and identity, and to counter antisemitism. In all of these efforts, our primary focus for 2022 is ensuring our community is ready to tackle any challenge—with a special emphasis on three key priorities:

  • Our local priority, empowering our vulnerable;
  • Our national priority, countering antisemitism; and,
  • Our global priority, supporting the Jewish people in Eastern Europe and Israel.

To learn more about these priorities, we invite you to visit www.UJAReady.ca.

In fiscal year 2020-2021, UJA Federation raised over $235 million in support of vital causes in the Greater Toronto Area, across Canada, in Israel, and around the world. Note that, while the Annual Campaign generated $71.4 million in revenue between July 2020 and June 2021, the 2020 Campaign raised $86.4 million in annual and emergency gifts. UJA Federation’s corporate infrastructure and fundraising expenses represent 7.5% of combined revenues of $235.8M, inclusive of Annual Campaign (unrestricted and restricted), special gifts, capital project donations, Jewish Foundation contributions, and sundry revenue. **Our 2020/2021 grant distributions include allocations funded by annual and emergency gifts to the 2020 Campaign, which raised a total of $86.4 million. Given the multi-year impact of the pandemic on our community, emergency funds from the 2020 Campaign are being strategically allocated on a multi-year basis. Further emergency allocations will be made in fiscal year 2021/2022 and will be reported on in next year’s Annual Report.
