Our spiritual leader is Rabbi Elyse Goldstein, known for over 20 years in Toronto as a leading teacher, spiritual mentor and community activist. We meet at the Wolfond Centre, 36 Harbord Street, and have Saturday morning services three times a month at which there is also junior congregation, Kid's Club, and childcare. We have Friday night services twice a month. We offer holiday celebrations and adult education.
We also have an afternoon school for kids grades SK-Bar/Bat Mitzvah which meets on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-6:45. It is a warm and welcoming school using contemporary curricula and modern methodology. We teach Judaica from values-based approach and Hebrew from an individual approach. Our Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparatory year is co-taught by Rabbi Goldstein and Cantor Michael Rumack.
Our congregation stands on the three pillars of Jewish life as our foundation: Torah, worship and acts of loving kindness. Our vision is a congregation that cares for each other, for the wider community, and for the planet by partnering with other Jewish organizations and the broader general community. We are building an out-of-the-box congregation where intellectual discourse is valued, spirituality is experienced, rituals and life-cycle events are meaningful.
There is a lot of joyful singing, there are kids and teens involved; we are a place where folks without kids or empty nesters feel engaged and where congregational participation is the norm. We are a shul where tradition meets modernity in a happy co-existence.
We are affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism, drawing from its vast array of resources and its dedication to inclusion. We invite you to become involved!
