School Social Worker 

One-year Maternity Leave

Netivot HaTorah, is a dynamic Modern Orthodox day school committed to delivering an outstanding Jewish and General studies education from Pre-Nursery to Grade 8. We are looking for a School Social Worker for a one year maternity leave who will work together with a dedicated team of faculty and administrators to support the mental health and well-being of students.  This is a two-day per week position.

This role is specific in that it involves providing 1:1 counseling to students who have been approved for in school social work support. Students can get approved for up to six sessions with the school social worker. After that time, families can elect to privately hire the social worker at a predetermined fee that will be paid out directly to the school social worker. This will be outside of the two days a week they work for Netivot. 

 

The School Social Worker will report to the Director of Student Wellness, and be responsible for supporting the diverse mental health and well-being needs of the Netivot student community.

The successful candidate for the position of School Social Worker will:

 

  • Embrace the mission, vision and community of Netivot HaTorah

  • Review incoming referrals and make intake phone calls to parents of students eligible for in school support 

  • Weekly thirty minute sessions with a pre-approved caseload 

  • Liaise with parents regularly and with outside clinicians as needed

  • Develop and run lunch programs to support student mental wellness 

  • Collaborate with the Student Wellness Department on programs such as Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week and Mental Health Awareness Week

Netivot HaTorah seeks a School Social Worker who has:

  • Good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers

  • Masters in Social Work preferred 

  • Experience in one on one counseling with children

  • Experience with play therapy or art therapy

  • A focus on anxiety, self regulation, behaviour management and social skills is an asset
