Organization Overview

The Canadian Friends of the Israel Guide Dog Center (CFIGDC) is dedicated to improving the quality of life of visually impaired Israelis. We provide them mobility, independence, self-confidence, and companionship through the faithful assistance of guide dogs specially trained in Hebrew to meet Israel’s rigorous and challenging environment. Founded in 1991, the Israel Guide Dog Center serves Israel’s 24,000 blind and visually impaired citizens and is the country's only internationally accredited guide dog program.

Position Summary

The Development Coordinator will be pivotal in securing funding to support the CFIGDC's mission and programs. This individual will identify funding opportunities, develop grant proposals, and manage the grant application process from inception to completion. Additionally, the incumbent will cultivate relationships with funders, donors, and other stakeholders to enhance CFIDGC’s grant-seeking endeavours and secure ongoing support.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Research funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources to support CFIGDC programs and services.
  • Develop grant proposals, grant reports, and other materials to effectively communicate CFIGDC’S mission, goals, and impact to potential funders.
  • Manage the grant application process, including coordinating internal resources, ensuring compliance with submission requirements, and meeting deadlines.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with funders, donors, and other stakeholders to enhance CFIGDC’S grant-seeking efforts and secure ongoing support.
  • Track and report on grant activities, including funding received, expenditures, and outcomes achieved, to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • At least two years’ fundraising/development experience.
  • Strong familiarity with Canada’s Jewish community and institutions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Successful track record in crafting effective and compelling solicitation and stewardship communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to build long-term relationships with donors.
  • Good understanding of development best practices.
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, values, and traditions.
  • Familiarity with fundraising tools and technology, including donor databases, email and online campaigns, and donor research tools.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office, Canva, and Google Suite and flexibility to learn new apps and software.

Compensation

$20,000 per year, commensurate with experience (10 hours per week)
