Camp Yomee - Camp Director Position

Location: Windsor, Canada

About Camp Yomee:

Established in 1955, Camp Yomee has been dedicated to providing a memorable and enriching Jewish experience for children in the Windsor Jewish community. This year, we are excited to announce that Camp Yomee will run for three weeks during the month of July. To make this summer unforgettable, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Camp Director to lead our team, alongside an Assistant Director.

Job Description:

As the Camp Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the camp's success by creating a vibrant and engaging environment that combines fun, education, and Jewish traditions. If you have prior experience in summer camps and informal Jewish education, we want to hear from you!



1. Previous experience as a Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director, Religious School Director, or synagogue Youth Advisor.

2. Knowledge of Jewish traditions, rituals, and informal Jewish education. Proficiency in Hebrew is a plus. Previous involvement in Jewish youth groups is also advantageous.

3. Valid driver's license. If you are a candidate from the US, rest assured that we will assist with work permits and toll charges. We will request a criminal background check prior to hiring the candidate.

4. Comfort and proficiency in using social media for marketing purposes.

5. Experience working with special needs students or campers is highly regarded.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy and materials to boost Camp Yomee's attendance.

2. Collaborate with spiritual leaders and Jewish communal professionals in Windsor to infuse the camp with meaningful Jewish content.

3. Participate in regular meetings with Windsor Jewish Community Centre staff to coordinate camp planning efforts, including marketing, logistics, and content planning.

4. Maintain and update the Camp Yomee website to ensure accuracy.

5. Manage the camp budget efficiently and ensure adherence to financial guidelines.

6. Recruit, train, and supervise all staff members, including the Assistant Camp Director, Counsellors in Training, and external educators/service providers.

7. Organize and schedule day field trips to enhance the campers' experiences.

8. Responsible for all necessary record-keeping tasks.

9. Create a diverse range of programming that strikes a balance between recreational and Jewish educational content.

10. Collaborate on plans to accommodate campers with special needs and work closely with those who support special needs campers.


Hours & Wage:

  1. Wage is $24 per hour
  2. Time Frame: April 2024-July 2024
  3. Duration of camp: July 1st-July 19th (3 weeks of camp)
  4. Hours during April-June: 5-10 hours per week
  5. Hours during July: 40 hours per week (except the last week)
