Learn about incarceration through a justice-informed, intersectional Jewish lens. We'll look at a variety of Jewish texts about prison and abolition, from Torah to the present. Chaplain Orev will provide information on Jewish incarceration, as well as the role of Chaplaincy in offering Spiritual Care to people of all faiths and cultures living in prison. She'll focus on her experiences providing education, counseling, Restorative Justice opportunities and ceremony at the six federal prisons in Southern Ontario.

Orev Reena Katz is a Kohenet (Hebrew Priestess) and spiritual care provider for four federal prisons in Southern Ontario. She strives to cultivate a presence of empathy in architectures governed by colonialism, vulnerability, and disconnection.
