The Israel and Golda Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Studies at York University invites you to join us in conversation with esteemed historians Pierre Anctil and Richard Menkis about their new primary source reader In a ‘Land of Hope’: Documents on the Canadian Jewish Experience, 1627-1923. This book represents the world’s first effort to present an expansive portrait of Canadian Jewish life using original documents. It draws from archives coast to coast to coast, selecting a wide host of subjects and voices in multiple languages, from the earliest days of Jewish presence in what would become Canada to the inter-war era of immigration restriction. Anctil & Menkis will be interviewed by York’s David S. Koffman. Open Q&A to follow. A discount code for the book will be shared.
