Sharon Binder is an Israeli artist. Many of her major work of arts combining contemporary graphic with Judaic motifs reside in private homes, institutions and synagogues. Join us for an exceptional evening as contemporary artist Sharon Binder presents and discusses Cradling Art: The Wimple (A 400 year old fold tradition) and influences on 20th Century Jewish Art. The Wimple is an ornate, embroidered or painted cloth used to bind up a Torah scroll after it has been read. It is made from swaddling cloth used to bind a baby at his circumcision. The artist will use these and other examples from the museums' collection to demonstrate the link with work of Judaica artists in Israel and North America.
