KDS Mission to Argentina

The KDS Mission to Argentina is an exclusive once-in-a-lifetime mission trip to Argentina for UJA’s KDS donors—individuals and families who give $25,000 or more to UJA’s Annual Campaign.
Join UJA and fellow KDS donors for an unforgettable experience in Argentina, from March 27-April 3, 2024*.
*Depart for Argentina on March 26, 2024 (or earlier).

Immerse yourself in Argentine culture and learn about the history of Argentina’s Jewish community.
Highlights of this mission include:

Travel to a private family-owned estancia (cattle ranch) and discover the world of polo. The oldest team sport in the world, with a long history of being reserved for aristocracy, polo is one of the most popular sports in Argentina. In fact, Argentina is considered a world leader when it comes to polo.
Visit Espacio Tacuari, home to the Jewish Pearson-Vergez family’s private art collection. Prominent names in the contemporary art scene, the Vergez’s have been collectors for over 25 years, turning an old ink factory into a modern exhibition space to house their vast collection. Perfect for fans of Art Basel Miami.
Go behind the scenes with a private tour of the Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires’ premier opera house and one of the most prominent in the world.
Exclusive access to special briefings and speakers, such as journalists, politicians, local leaders, authors, and more.
Learn about the local Jewish population and the Nazi ratlines from the mission’s resident expert Sergio Widder, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) Regional Director for Latin America
Visit Buenos Aires’ Jewish Quarter, including the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA) building, which made international headlines because of terrorist attacks in 1992 and 1994. Rebuilt on the original site, AMIA is now a Jewish community and cultural centre, featuring monuments from Israeli artist Yaakov Agam.
Partake in a traditional Argentinian barbeque—called an asado.
Enjoy a traditional tango show with front row seats at the renowned cabaret, Rojo Tango.
Join a gourmet chocolate tasting in Bariloche, the chocolate capitol of Argentina.
Learn about Argentinian viniculture from a sommelier and taste the local terroir.
Go on a discovery hike for perfect 360-degree panoramic views of Nahuel Huapi—both a lake and a national park—or take a more relaxing approach with a scenic yacht ride on the Tristeza branch.
Visit an estancia in Patagonia for an authentic gaucho experience.
Get hands-on with engaging experiences in both Buenos Aires and Bariloche, with options like wine tasting, cooking classes, horseback riding, a curated graffiti tour, and tango lessons, and more!

From the bustling city of Buenos Aires, called the “Paris of South America,” to the breathtaking scenery of Patagonia, you will experience the dynamic culture of Argentina.
Start in the lively Buenos Aires, where you will learn about the highlights of Argentine culture, from the city’s arts and architecture to the birth of tango and the influences on the country’s gastronomy.
In contrast, experience the beautiful, picturesque views of Patagonia from San Carlos di Bariloche (commonly referred to as just Bariloche). This mountain town borders national park and glacial lake Nahuel Huapi, and offers a taste of Alpine culture.
Note: this mission will begin and end in Buenos Aires. Trip extensions before and/or after the mission can be arranged.
