About the Opportunity

The Human Resources team is seeking an experienced and results-driven Talent & HR Generalist to develop and implement HR and talent strategies while fostering relationships with new and existing employees around future growth opportunities and organizational goals.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with HR colleagues to support the HR needs of the organization and our ability to deliver against our HR strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with department managers to forecast the hiring needs of every department, and understand future-proofing talent needs
  • Develop job descriptions for each position; ensure accurate job analysis has been conducted; confirm placement of role within salary grid
  • Lead initiatives for employer branding; be a brand advocate and champion of UJA as an employer of choice
  • Attract suitable candidates through a variety of sourcing channels
  • Foster long-term relations with existing employees, potential candidates and past applicants to identify the best talent for open positions
  • Design interview questions and selection criteria reflecting the requirements for each position
  • Assess applicants' knowledge, skills, and experience to best suit open positions; coordinate follow up interviews with hiring managers; initiate offer process
  • Manage internship program
  • Provide recruitment updates and reports to hiring and department managers
  • Keep up-to-date on current employment legislation and regulations and enforcing them within the company


  • Post-secondary degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years relevant experience
  • CHRP in progress is preferred
  • Experience with talent acquisition processes and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS)
  • Sound knowledge of different interview techniques, evaluation methods and full-cycle recruiting
  • The ability to design and implement talent acquisition strategies
  • People-focused with ability to quickly build rapport with employees and stakeholders
  • Proactive with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of employment law and legislation
  • Maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and analytical capabilities with excellent attention to detail; strategic thinker
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, innovation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

* UJA’s normal hours of work are 34 hours per week.  UJA currently operates on a hybrid basis, therefore, the successful hire will be expected to work from the office on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please note that UJA’s offices are closed on all Jewish holy days (yom tov) and the Jewish Sabbath (Shabbat).
