Program Director - Maternity Leave

The Program Director provides leadership in the planning, coordination and execution of JNF’s fundraising initiatives, helping to build new opportunities for community awareness through special events and board engagement. This includes programs and events catered towards JNF Future (young professionals under 40), JNF Toronto, and JNF Families communities. The successful candidate must be able to anticipate project needs, prioritize and meet deadlines and be available to work some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Event planning for all Toronto based events
    • Create budgets and monitor expenses
    • Logistics
    • Negotiations with vendors
    • Work with caterers, source and order supplies, décor, Audio Visual equipment, event signage and other day of print material (name tags etc.)
    • Create fundraising and marketing materials with Marketing Team
  • All event logistics for annual Negev Dinner
  • Work with Executive Director and Campaign Director on all fundraising campaigns (High Holiday, Negev Dinner, Tu Bi’Shevat etc)
  • Work with JNF Future Board - Young Professionals Committee
    • Create new and exciting fundraising initiatives
    • Set strategic goals related to event planning, fundraising, leadership development, succession planning and volunteer engagement and outreach
    • Manage all events
    • Create fundraising and marketing materials with Marketing Team
    • Work with event and program committees
    • Recruit new members for committees and board   
  • Continue to grow the Ambassador Program (donor relations program for young professionals)
  • Work with newly created JNF Families Committee to implement family outreach strategy which includes:
    • Family events
    • Education about Israel, tzedakah and Jewish topics
  • Respond to enquiries from the public about events
  • Coordination of volunteers for all Toronto events
  • Donor canvassing and sponsorship
  • Event computer management
  • Building of relationships with key stakeholders and prospects

Professional Experience/Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant event planning experience, fundraising experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working on major fundraising events
  • Experience working with volunteers and managing committee processes
  • Ability to multi-task, managing multiple projects
  • Understanding of social media and marketing
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Proficiency with technology including knowledge of Microsoft Office. 
    • Experience with Raiser’s Edge, or other fundraising software, and Wrike, or other project management software, is an asset.
    • Experience with marketing related software such as Mailchimp considered an asset.
  • Appreciation of and commitment to Israel
  • Project management and prioritizing skills, problem solving and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with the Toronto Jewish community an asset
  • University degree, postgraduate or professional degree preferred
