Department:
The Heritage and Spiritual Care Department is committed to preserving and celebrating Jewish heritage while fostering a deep sense of identity, memory, and community. Through initiatives such as The Morris & Sally Justein Heritage Museum, the department honours the traditions, ritual objects, and cultural legacy of the Jewish people.
Job Summary:
The Museum Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the operations, programming, and administration of the museum. Reporting to the Director, Heritage and Spiritual Care, the role ensures the smooth execution of the museum, educational programs, and special events.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Maintains accurate records and on-going updates of the Museum’s catalogue database
- Preventative conservation of collection items
- Processes new donations and object loans
- Leads the development, research, planning and installation of yearly exhibitions
- Obtains appropriate Usage Rights documentation for archival photographs, ensuring compliance with Copyright laws
- Liaises with private collectors in the community, other museums or collecting institutions to arrange loans of materials for exhibition
- Develops content inspired by the Museum’s permanent collection into Museum on Wheels programs for the residents and patients in the Long-term Care Home, Hospital and Day Centres
- Plans and leads special museum focused programs and initiatives
Qualifications (include but are not limited to):
- Education in Museum Studies, Art History, Cultural Studies, and/or Judaic Studies
- At least 1-2 years of related experience
- Knowledge of Jewish heritage, including familiarity with ritual objects, symbols, and traditions
- Familiarity with museum registration methods and record-keeping an asset
- Knowledge of conservation techniques preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with cataloguing software (Past Perfect or another database) preferred
- Detail oriented, independent worker, and able to manage multiple projects at one time
- Experience in a health-care setting an asset
