 , facing overwhelming obstacles and many near-death experiences\, Dawit fl
 ed home in an effort to secure a more stable life. He made his way to Isra
 el and then\, with the help of a Canadian Jewish family\, to Toronto.  Thi
 s past September\, Dawit became a Canadian citizen.  But\, Dawit&rsquo\;s 
 family remains in Ethiopia as refugees\, where they are caught up in a vio
 lent conflict that continues...
