What We Do
This past year, the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto saw the creation of
49 named funds and an additional 12 non-endowed funds, bringing the total number
of funds to well over 575. The Jewish Foundation also received 13 new planned
gifts through bequests, insurance policies, or other vehicles which will be
realized in the future, worth more than $4.6 million. We now have a total of 215
planned gifts valued at $178 million.
Today, the Jewish Foundation
chaired by Richard Venn, boasts more than $378 million in planned gifts and
permanent assets.
The impact of the Jewish Foundation and its family of
fund holders was felt across the Greater Toronto area and in Israel with close
to $14 million distributed to agencies in Toronto, Israel and around the world.
The impact made by the Jewish Foundation and our family of donors is strong and
diversified. Between organizing creative writing contests for our Jewish day
schools, providing exercise and health programs to isolated seniors, helping
victims of domestic abuse through individual counseling, and building
after-school recreational centres for children in impoverished communities in
Israel, grants from the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto truly helped make a
difference.
