I once again visited the Southern communities on Monday together with my colleagues Eran David and Sharon Schwartzman.  At the end of the day, we decided to join the Ayalim youth (young students who have settled in the Negev and the Galilee with over 1,000 other students who have made their homes in those regions) as they got together at the military gathering point at the Gaza border in order to deliver goodies to the soldiers, hot drinks, support and lot of love.  It was wonderful to see our young soldiers who all understand the important job they are doing on behalf of the State of Israel.

Suddenly, my cousin’s daughter received a telephone call informing her to quickly get “geared up” for military duty. Her destination? Gaza, which had just been hit hard by Israel after being victimized by countless Qassam rockets being fired by Hamas.

The war in Gaza may be over for now, but assistance for southern Israel residents, including trauma relief is still urgent. With close to a million Israelis within Hamas terrorist rocket range, anxiety remains high.  United Jewish Appeal, through UIA Federations Canada (UIAFC) is taking a leadership role to ensure that aid is made available to those who have been besieged by relentless rocket attacks in Southern Israel.  But we can’t do it without you.
